Warren is in southern Macomb County, along Detroit's northern border, and is one of Michigan's largest cities. Realcomp recorded 1,841 residential and condo sales in Warren in 2025, more than any other city in our guides, with a median residential sale of $213,000 and a median of 26 days on the market.
The homes
Southeast Warren is largely post-war bungalows, while most homes north of Stephens Road were built after 1960. There are condos too: 233 of the 2025 sales were condos, with a median of $163,000.
Getting around
8 Mile Road (M-102) is the border with Detroit. I-696 crosses the city east to west, and M-53 (Van Dyke), Mound Road and M-97 (Groesbeck Highway) carry traffic north and south.
Landmarks and parks
The General Motors Technical Center, designed by Eero Saarinen and a National Historic Landmark since 2014, is in Warren, as is the U.S. Army's Detroit Arsenal. The city runs a park system of more than 20 parks, including Halmich Park.
Buying here: taxes and costs
With six school districts in the city, millage rates depend on the address as well as the city. As anywhere in Michigan, a home's taxable value resets after a sale, so estimate your taxes from its state equalized value (how uncapping works) and file the Principal Residence Exemption after closing.
