Macomb Township sits in the middle of Macomb County, about 7 miles north of Mount Clemens, the county seat. Its population passed 91,000 in the 2020 census, and Realcomp recorded 1,033 residential and condo sales here in 2025, with a median residential sale of $495,000 and a median of 40 days on the market.
The homes
The township was settled by farmers in the 1830s. Much of today's housing is in subdivisions built as it grew, some with homeowners associations, plus condos and new construction on remaining open land. Condos were 232 of the 2025 sales, with a median of $315,000. Ask early about association dues and rules; they are part of your monthly cost.
Getting around
The township is laid out on the mile roads, several under local names: 21 Mile is Shoemaker Road, 22 Mile is Waldenburg Road and 24 Mile is French Road. Romeo Plank Road runs north and south through the township, and M-59 (Hall Road, the 20 Mile line) is the main east-west route to Oakland County.
Parks
Macomb Corners Park, on 25 Mile Road, covers 94 acres with ball diamonds, soccer fields and a mile-long walking trail. The township also runs Waldenburg Park on 21 Mile Road.
Buying here: taxes and costs
Millage rates in Macomb Township depend on the school district as well as the township. As anywhere in Michigan, a home's taxable value resets after a sale, so estimate your taxes from its state equalized value (how uncapping works) and file the Principal Residence Exemption after closing.
